It is our pleasure to confirm that our partner initiative for The Wind Down Invitational is ‘Mentor A Boy Child’ a movement that seeks to impact and build young boys between the ages of 15 - 20 years old to become better men for society, now and for the future.

The high unemployment rate in South Africa, which due to the stratification of society tends to impact men at most, and black people in particular, has created negative effects related to the growth of crime, women and child abuse, as well as dysfunctional families.

What has exacerbated the problems in our society, is the lack of visible and relevant role models that the young men can emulate or aspire to be as they grow up.

Founded by Mpho Masondo and Sydney Mbhele ‘Mentor A Boy Child’ relaunched on Youth Day, 16 June 2017, as a collaborative effort to offer a mentorship platform for teenage and adolescent boys between the ages of 15 to 20 years old.

The initiative will connect mentors and mentees, by pairing the boys with progressive and successful role models who will help guide them in making the correct decisions as they confront life.  The mentors will advise, inspire, challenge and where appropriate help 'open the doors' for the mentees, to help them succeed.
